How do I introduce my new kitten to my other cat?

Imagine a strange child is suddenly plopped into your home. It’s no wonder fellow felines don’t generally welcome new kittens with open paws! To ease the transition, temporarily relegate your new kitten to a separate room. The next day, open the door a crack to allow sniffing and peeking. Feed your existing cat right outside the new cat’s door. Stroke one cat, then the other, with the same hand, to spread their respective scents. Once they show calm interest, the door can be opened.

Expect some initial hissy fits. Meanwhile, lavish attention on your older cat. Provide extra treats, toys, and lap time. The more perks are associated with the 'new kid,' the more quickly she’ll be accepted.
