You've brought a new cat home to keep Fluffy company. But instead of making friends, they are fighting. Cat fights are often turf wars over resources. So Deborah Horwitz, a veterinary behaviorist from Missouri, suggests spreading food dishes, water bowls, and litter boxes around the home.

Think of it like college roommates. Sometimes you have college roommates you like and sometimes you have college roommates you don't. And depending on how much you have to run into them is going to determine how harmonious it might be where you live.

Look for the triggers. Fighting is treatable with training. Teach each cat to associate good things with the other's presence, and over time, the contentious cats will likely call a truce.
