How do I socialize my kitten?

The more varied and pleasant experiences your kitten has with new situations and people, the more relaxed and trusting she will be as an adult. Once kittens are a week old, frequent gentle handling is a good idea. Touching and rubbing a kitten’s paws, face, and tummy will help accustom her to nail clipping, brushing, and veterinary exams. Have visitors offer treats or play with her. This teaches kitty that strangers can be fun. But ask them to let your kitten approach them, rather than pursue her.

One word of caution - don’t let your kitten develop the bad habit of attacking your hands or feet. Teach her that toys are for playing, hands are for petting, and arms are for hugging.
