Real fans of Welsh Corgis know that the dogs come in two distinct breeds—the Pembroke Corgi and the Cardigan Corgi. Both are low-set, sturdy animals of European origin that were bred for herding cattle. The main difference is that the Pembroke has a shorter body and tail, and pointed ears.
Both kinds of Corgies are loyal, affectionate, and friendly. They're energetic, easy to train. And their size makes them good companions in small places—when they're not running, that is.
Remember—Corgies are herding dogs. Confine a Corgi in an apartment too long, and he'll herd you right to the elevator. And to the park, so you'll both get plenty of exercise.
